Mitch Woodrum has been appointed acting commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Labor following the retirement of former Commissioner John Junkins.
“I have great confidence in Mitch to continue the work of the Division of Labor and provide top-quality service to the clients it serves,” Commerce Secretary J. Keith Burdette said. “He has demonstrated both his expertise and professionalism over his many years of service with the division.”
Woodrum has been with the Division of Labor for more than 24 years. He was named director of the manufactured housing program in 2002 and became director of licensing in 2007. He has served as deputy commissioner since 2014.
The Division of Labor is part of the Department of Commerce and oversees licensing and inspecting businesses operating in West Virginia as well as enforcement of labor laws and workplace safety regulations.
