The CCMS Lady Mustangs pulled off yet another great season with a win against Summersville for the CWVAC Championship at the Braxton County Armory with a final score of 34-32. The Lady Mustangs lost the coveted CWVAC Championship trophy last year at the hands of the Lady Knights of Braxton Middle School. However, the same fate was not to be for the Lady Mustangs of 2014 – 2015. They first had to defeat the Lady Knights of Braxton before getting to the big dance against the tough Lady Bears of Summersville. The Lady Mustangs swept Braxton under the rug like a molded potato chip on Thursday night by a score of 34-10. Erica Boggs had 17 points, leading the Lady Mustangs in scoring. Saturday was a championship day, and it was a packed house for the Lady Mustangs championship game. Their fans were not to be disappointed. The lady Mustangs fought hard the whole game and defeated the team from Summersville. This capped off a great season for the Lady Mustangs under the leadership of Coach Aaron Williams and Assistant Coach Sonja Williams. Grabbing MVP of the tournament was Erica Boggs with her truly remarkable tenacity on rebounds and her ability to find the net. Other awards that were well earned were Erica Boggs, Kacie Butcher, and Marissa Williams who received All Conference, and Riley Taylor and Kaleigh Brown who received All Tournament awards Congratulations to all the girls! I’m sure they would agree that it took all of them to get to the big game and to win it as they did. Also, the Mustangs defeated Walton by the score of 47-15 to become Western Division champions and placed third in the CWVAC Conference. CCMS basketball has done the county proud; congratulations to both the Mustang and Lady Mustang basketball teams for a great season.
