It has been said, “If a man has any brains at all, let him hold onto his calling, and in the grand sweep of things, his turn will come at last.” W. McCune.
Grant Krajeski has been in the game, whether it was on the gridiron, court, or diamond, and he is evidence against the word failure. From Little League to a senior in high school, he has dedicated his young life to the sports he played and to the fans of Clay County. There was no fear of failure, only hard work commitment to overcome it. Grant Krajeski has been to football, basketball and baseball teams like water is to a lake. The 2020 football season was uncertain due to the virus, and nobody knew from day to day whether there would even be a season. However, there was a season and Grant Krajeski took advantage of it, setting individual records as well as school records. This year’s football team was made up of players that had played together since they were in flag football. Much of their success was due to this, as Grant quoted,” We know how each other thinks,” and that was proven as they made the playoffs for the first time in years.
Grant broke the CCHS school records of career passing and passing touchdowns. This season he threw for 19 touchdowns and 1879 yards, which is also the season record. In his career, he has thrown for 4500 plus yards and 50 touchdowns. Because of this, WV Metro News Sports has nominated Grant Krajeski as one of the top 10 AA players in the state. This puts him in the running for the number one spot when all the votes are tallied. When the All-State awards came out, he was also listed as Honorable Mention All State.
You can ask Grant about his success, and he will tell you that it relied a lot on his work ethic and preparation but also on the teams he played on. Whether they won or lost, without his teammates grunting it out in the trenches and giving him the opportunities he had, the season would have been much different. It takes the line, receivers, runners and coaches to get the job done, and that is why the team was successful.
Grant has not committed to play anywhere yet as there is still time to play. Schools are interested in his abilities and are offering, but at this time, nothing is set in stone. His last football season is over, but there are still sports left to play. His passion for basketball and baseball will no doubt help these teams as it did during the football season. He now has the opportunity to take basketball and baseball to new ground. As good as the stats are, he is every bit a team player who loved the fans and his family. He is truly a class act; he made 2020 football fun to watch and kept you on the edge of your seat with his abilities on the field. He will be missed on the grid iron and his shoes will be a tough pair to fill. He is the son of Shawn and Jamela Krajeski who have been concrete columns that have held him in place. Krajeski will no doubt go on to positively affect the world around him. Congratulations Grant Krajeski on your nomination.
