Clay County Commission met on their regularly scheduled meeting for May 11, 2016. After calling the meeting to order and approving the previous meeting minutes, the commission approved the appointment of Terry G. Mullins, Administratrix of the estate of Stacy Jane Samples, deceased. The confirmation pronating the last will and testament of Inez Westfall and the appointment of Mary Lou Douglas Means, Executrix was approved. A request of waiver of final settlement for the estates of Helen Reed Hubbard, Homer S. Morton and David Preston Taylor, deceased was approved. The resignation of Shayne Sams as Board Member with the Clay-Roane Public Service District, effective April 27, 2016, was approved.
The Clay County Golden Delicious Apple Festival is quickly approaching and they requested to use the Courthouse courtyard, inside facilities and restrooms during the 2016 festival, which was approved by the commission. A certificate of liability listing the Clay County Commission as an additional insurer is required.
A resolution authorizing the County Commission to file an application with the US Department of Justice for a grant to hire an entry level Law Enforcement officer for the Clay County Sheriff’s Department was approved. A list of delinquent Real and Personal property taxes for tax year 2015 as prepared by Sheriff Garrett Samples was approved. The appointment of Glen Sutton as Fiduciary Commissioner for the estate of Ronald Dale Ramsey, deceased, was approved.
The grant for the day reporting center was successful. The day reporting center is hoped to open sometime in the first of July. Clay County High School graduation will be May 28th at 10:00am.
