The Farmers Market was open again on Saturday, with more vendors and products to choose from. This week’s market also featured a unique attraction for the children as the WVU Extension Office held a pizza bucket demonstration. Children were given buckets filled with dirt and the beginnings of the vegetables and spices that are used in making pizzas. My children were really racking their brains on why they couldn’t grow cheese and pepperoni in the buckets too! It was interesting to see the children learning that a tomato is what you put in pizza sauce and ketchup. The children learned a lot from planting the tomatoes, onions, peppers, and basil plants in their buckets and are now patiently waiting for the plants to start growing. The West Virginia University Extension Office outdid themselves with this fun and educational activity for the kids.
