Several inches of rain fell in Clay County on Thursday and Friday, causing flash flooding in many areas. Heavy thunderstorms with strong wind gusts pummeled most of West Virginia for two straight days, resulting in flood warnings as creeks poured out of their banks. Low lying areas were quickly covered in water, making for hazardous travel in some areas. Thankfully, a high pressure system moved in on Friday night, ending the rainfall. The weekend was filled with beautiful sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures.
