The annual ramp dinner was a little different this year at H.E. White. Usually you can see hundreds gathering to socialize, enjoy the company of neighbors, and eat their ramp dinners in the school. This year, due to COVID, that changed. This year’s dinner was pickup only, but it did not stop ramp lovers from coming out to enjoy.
Sunday, May 16, cars started rolling in for one of the biggest ramp dinners in West Virginia. Volunteers worked for several weeks to pull off this dinner. Digging, cleaning, blanching ramps, gathering up all items and preparing the food that goes with the ramps is no small task. Staff and community members worked hard to make this dinner a success, like previous years.
The drive thru dinner was a smooth event with over 800 meals sold. This raised over $8,000 for students at H.E. White. These funds will be used for Christmas gifts, trips, parties, and other necessities. This event could not be pulled off without the support of the community, and is appreciated by the school and PTO.
