The company hired to remove Freedom Industries tank farm and contents on Elk River is under investigation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Owned by Daniel Carlton Kessler, Diversified Services LLC was paid a visit by federal agents this past Thursday. Although officials will not release the cause of the investigation, Diversified has a long history of environmental complaints being filed against it.
Kessler’s name may sound familiar to those in Clay County, as he was the intended victim of a murder for hire scheme a few years ago. Kessler was a former business associate of Brent Boggs until a business deal involving gas wells went awry. At that time, Boggs apparently hired three men to kill Kessler. In 2013 Boggs was sentenced to one to three years for “soliciting, instigating or inducing” the three men to commit first-degree murder.
