As part of the 2014 Day of Caring, volunteers gathered in Clay Wednesday to clear debris from a nearly two mile section of the old railroad leading from Dundon to Pisgah. Members of the BDA, the Buffalo Creek Watershed, CCHS 4-H, United Way, the WVU Extension Office, the DEP, Clay County Services Unlimited and several community volunteers worked for the majority of the day on Wednesday to make the trail passable for hikers, bikers and horseback riders. Trash was picked up, weeds were mowed and overgrowth was trimmed in order to clear the railroad bed. The first section of the planned 22 mile trail is accessible from both ends of town and is a great walk to take during this beautiful fall weather. The hard work of all those involved made a difference in our community.
