Commissioners approve Emergency Absentee Voting

Clay County Commission met on August 10 with just a few action items to discuss.
The minutes from the previous meeting were approved, as well as the bills and purchase orders.
The commissioners then approved to hire Nathaniel L Johnston as a temporary part-time employee as an ambulance driver for the Clay Ambulance Service, effective August 10 at the rate of $8.50 per hour. Nathaniel’s employment will be pending on the completion of a successful drug screening and background check.
The commissioners then moved and approved to adopt an Emergency Absentee voting procedure policy for the November 8, 2016 general election. This is for designated persons to travel to a nursing home or hospital, etc., if needed during the upcoming November election should a voter not have access to a voting location.
A motion to designate the number of poll workers for all eleven precincts was approved to provide for three democratic election officials (one clerk and two commissioners) and two republican officials (one clerk and one commissioner).
There was a Memorandum of Understanding for National Dislocated Worker Grant, 2016 Severe Storm and Flooding was approved.
The curbside pickup and the dumps for the cleanup from the flood will be closed on August 18th.
Lastly, the commissioners approved the issuance of salary checks for the Assessors office employees for the month of August, 2016 as long as there is sufficient funds in the Assessors budget.
