Through the efforts of Delegate David Walker, much needed money is once again coming into the county; $32,395 to be exact. The grant funds were provided through the Governor’s Community Partnership which strives to promote community and economic projects through the state. The main purpose of these particular grants is to assist in expansion, building and improvement of public facilities and services and that’s exactly what the grant money will go towards in Clay County. The $11,895 grant awarded was to the Clay County Commission and will be used to purchase emergency lighting for the HealthNet landing zone at the Wallback park and ride. Senior Centers in both Clay and Big Otter each received $3,000 in funding. The Clay County Library was awarded $2,000. $7,500 will be split between the three fire departments in the county, Big Otter, Clay and Lizemores. The emergency services offices will have $4,000 added to their budget and the Parks and Recreation will receive a $1,000. Look for essential public improvements to begin in the county.
