So far, $32,000 has been given to residents of Clay County who have lost their homes, and as funds continue to be donated, more money will be disbursed. Those who completely lost their homes have been given money first, and once all of those have been given money, they will move on down the list to those who sustained damage. The process to begin a list of homes that need to be torn down due to flood damage has been started. The National Guard will take over this project.
On Saturday the 17th, at the Apple Festival this upcoming September, there is a new ceremony that will be starting this year to induct Clay County coaches, athletes, etc. into the Athletic Hall of Fame for Clay County. A board has been meeting and has chosen five individuals to be the first inductees. That ceremony will be on Saturday the 17th at Clay High Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. if you would like to attend. If you have a nomination, you may contact Jerry Linkinoggor to submit your nomination.
