The Clay County Commission meeting was held on July 27. Before the meeting proceeded with the action items, Jana Lowery and Lisa Sharp were in attendance representing the USDA rural development to inform the commission, and those in attendance, that they provide programs to help assist those who sustained damage from the flood.
Although these resources are not as immediate as FEMA, businesses can get help up to two years after the disaster has occurred. Grants and loans are available. More information on these programs will be available soon.
Once the meeting proceeded, action items were next on the list. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved. Probating the last will and testament of Jeffery A Salisbury and the appointment of Cheryl D Salisbury was approved. The last will and testament of Johnny Dale Drake and the appointment of Sally Ann Rhodes, executrix, was approved. The appointment of Ray Elwood Moore Jr., administrator of the estate of Ray Elwood Moore, deceased, was approved. The appointment of Wayne King, ancillary administrator DBN of the estate of Bobby C Paden, deceased was approved. A request of waiver of final settlement for the estates of Ingrid Karin Canfield and Teresa Ann Stewart, deceased, was approved. The final settlement report for the estate or Clarence Ray Hays Sr., deceased, and the discharge of Clarence Ray Hayes Jr. was Executor was approved. A motion to approve the sheriff’s settlement for the period of July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2016, was approved.
A motion to hire Lisa Truman as a temporary part-time, as-needed dispatcher for Clay Communications Center, effective July 27, 2016, at the rate of $10 per hour, was approved. Both the drug test and background check have come back clear.
A motion was made and approved to confirm rates for copies charged by the county clerk’s office. Those rates are: $1.50 for first two pages, $1 each additional page; maps $5. This rate is per instrument.
An advertisement for bids to install floor tile or carpet in the county commission courtroom, sheriff’s office and county clerk’s record room was approved. An advertisement for bids to remove drywall and clean the back part of E911 center due to the June 23flood was approved. A motion to approved the advertise for bids to clean the old CAEZ building due to the June 23 flood was approved as well.
