Track is up and running, and CCHS has the best running, jumping, and shot putting athletes the school can muster.  They travelled to Laidley Field in Charleston on Friday evening and competed against some of the best in the state at the KVT & FOA Warm Up.  Considering that CCHS doesn’t have a full practice facility on hand, the team does really well.  It was a very cold start to the season for the track team, and it was difficult to stay warmed up.  Never the less, the Panthers laced up their shoes and hit the track.  All of the team did pretty well considering the circumstances.  Trevor Armes is competing again this year and has come back with the afterburners on.  He placed second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.06.  In the field events, Jared Young placed 4th in the discus throw with a good toss of 104 feet, 4 inches, only seven feet out of first.  Michael Rhodes is back competing in the shot put and placed third overall with a toss of 37 feet, 8.5 inches.  These numbers will no doubt climb up as the season goes on.  The Panther Track team is working hard to bring track back on the map in Clay County.  They will be back in action on Thursday evening at the Capitol High Invitational Relays held at Laidley Field beginning at 4PM.
