The track team is running their way into the history books, and this seems to be the best year that the team has had yet.
They ran at the Dick Darby Memorial Classic and the Lindsay Mann Invitational tournament held at Roane County. The CCHS track team has been giving no quarter in these tournaments and are just getting better each year. The girls placed 5th in the Dick Darby Memorial, and the boys placed second – pretty good results going against the best in the state.
It was the Lady Panther 4×800 team that is kicking butt in the track world placing first in the event. The 4×200 team placed 4th. Sharina Ratliff placed 3rd in the 800 meter run and 2nd in the 1600. Salyndria Gill was 3rd in the 3200 meter run. For the boys, it was Earl Jarrett placing 2nd in the 100 meter run and the 200 meter run. Richard Triplett was 4th in the 800 meter, and Caleb Atha was 3rd in the 1600 meter, followed by Isaiah Spencer placing 4th and 3rd in the 3200 meter. Hunter Jones was 3rd in the 110 meter hurdles, and Garrett Quinn was 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles. The 4×200 relay team placed 2nd and the 4×800 team placed 2nd. The 110 meter shuttle hurdle team placed 3rd, and Hunter Jones placed 4th in the high jump.
The Lindsey Mann Invitational tournament information was not available as of this writing, but both the boys’ team and the girls’ team did really well. The tournament didn’t have as many teams this year for some reason, but it was a good time to get some running in before the LKC matchups next week. The Panthers have very few meets left in their season before the state finals, so if you want to see some of the best runners in action, head to a track meet before their season is done.
