The Lady Mustangs represented Clay County well this season, but, alas, their season has come to an end.  The girls were on a four game winning streak, beating Braxton, Geary, Spencer, and Webster before going into the game against Summersville.  However, in the CWVAC tournament, it’s a one loss and the season is over tournament.  In the final game against Summersville, the Lady Mustangs just couldn’t overcome their full court press and lost the game. That being said, the Lady Mustangs had a whale of a year and finished the season with nine wins and 11 losses.  For the Lady Mustangs, it’s on to softball and track.

The Mustang boys are going into the CWVAC tournament hot.  They have won five of their last six games with their only loss against Webster.  They will start their final season run for the gold on Monday evening at Calhoun Middle.  They will have some big competition and a big hill to climb to get the gold back to CCMS.  Joel Elliott has been the ace shooter for the Mustangs all season and has scored 47 points in the last three games.  In order to win the tournament, a heavy weight will be on his shoulders, as well as the rest of the team, to step up their game.  This CWVAC tournament has some tough teams represented, but the Mustangs have the talent to get the job done.  Go Mustangs!
