The Panthers have ended their season on the mats at the state wrestling tournament held in Huntington over the past weekend.
Once again this season, the Panthers couldn’t get the numbers in the ranks to have a full team. That being said, they went head to head all season and put great individual records in the books. Four qualified for the state competition.
It was a tough event as some of the finest wrestlers were going down in flames getting beat early. The Panthers had some of those tough matches but gave it a hundred percent. Ryan Stewart was the only wrestler from the Panther team to place in the top six. Stewart placed fifth in the state in the 195 lb. weight class. Placing fifth is a great accomplishment considering the level of competition he was up against. Congratulations to Ryan and all the other wrestlers who competed – Joel Cruikshank, Jacob Miklos and Blake Belcher.
Next year could very well be the year of the Panther.
