The Panthers played a whale of a game against the tough Eagles of Braxton County on Tuesday night.
With the Panthers it is nonstop action from the opening bell to the final whistle. Looking for their first win of the season, the Panthers came out swinging and were just down by five points at the half. After the half, the Panthers trailed after a 20-point run by the Eagles in the third. The Panthers answered with 13 of their own. This left them 12 behind going into the fourth period.
The Panthers outscored the Eagles in the fourth but couldn’t contain Tayton Stout of the Eagles as he scored 11 of the Eagles’ 13 points in the fourth. The final score was Clay 48, Braxton 57. Thomas Haverty was top brass in the shooting with 21 points in the game followed by Issac Workman with 14 points.
The Panthers finally got their first win of the season against the Calhoun Red Devils on Friday night. They won a tight one with the final score Panthers 49, Red Devils 47. The Panthers will be back in action at home on Tuesday night against Gilmer, so try to get out and enjoy a game.
