The CCHS golf team traveled to the Bridge Haven golf course in Fayetteville on Tuesday to take on the Braxton Eagles team.

It was a rough match for the Panther team as they couldn’t seem to get into a groove. The course was well groomed, it was a hot day and by the 19th hole, it was Braxton over the Panthers.

On Thursday, they fared a little better and the shots were landing as they went head to head with Nicholas and Richwood. When it was all said and done and the putters cooled off, the Panther team placed a close second.  The team is in sort of a rebuild year with only four golfers in the lineup. The team is coached by local golfing great Rick Willis, a man well known for his golf game and link prowess.  The team has enjoyed fame over the years and has came a long way in the sport. Rielly Taylor will be competing in the first ever West Virginia state girls’ golf tournament held in Mineral Wells on the 18th of September. This will be an opportunity for Rielly to compete against ladies from around 30 different schools.

The team has just a few more matches before the season ends, so get out on the links and support the golf team. Go Clay!
