The Panther cross country team made their first official appearance of the season at the Ripley Covered Bridge Invitational.

Here they would test their legs out with the best in AAA schools. With all the new talent on the team, hopes were high that they would be a force this season on the grass track. The boys and girls both did an excellent job on their first event.

The Lady Panther team placed third overall with three of the girls finishing in the top 25.  Sophomore  Madelyn Kilpatrick was top runner this week on the girls’ team placing 13th followed by Virginia Haverty at 21st and Hannah Casto 25th.  Only one point separated them from second, finishing just behind AAA Lady Cougars of Capitol. The boys ran their legs off, finishing second overall with six boys placing in the top 25. Sophomore Hunter Jones was Clay’s  top runner placing 13th overall, followed by Brandon Daniels 16th, Tanner Faulkner 18th, Thomas Haverty 19th, Colten Pritt 22nd, and Richard Triplett rounding it out at 23rd. This was a good start for both teams, and as the season passes, they will only get better.

The Panthers will test their lungs this week at Westside High School on Tuesday evening and again on Saturday at a night time run at Cabell Midland High School. Congratulations to both teams.
