The Panther wrestling team traveled to Bridgeport High School to compete in the Region II championship on Friday and Saturday.
Here in the north is where it would be determined who would move on to compete for a state title in Huntington. The top four in each weight class will move on.
This was yet another year the CCHS team would make their mark on the mats. Four Panther wrestlers grappled to the top four. Joel Cruikshank and Blake Belcher were Regional Champions, Ryan Stewart placed second and Jacob Miklos placed third. It was a good tournament for the wrestling team, and even though they didn’t place high as a team, two first places, one second and a third is not bad for a seven-member squad.
The State Wrestling Tournament will be held at the Big Sandy Arena on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. We stand four good chances of having four state champions, so come out and support the Panther wrestling team in their final tournament of 2017.
