Gun and run – it’s the Mustang way.

The CCMS Mustang football team traveled to Walton Thursday night for their first scrimmage game.   The Mustangs, under new head coach Barry Payton, looked like a well oiled football machine.   They have speed on offense and a reckless abandon on defense.  They are not afraid to hit, and they do it with a passion.  There is no score kept in a scrimmage, but if there was the Mustangs would have pocketed several touchdowns.  They attacked from the air as well as the ground and had little problem of getting the ball downfield.  Walton had a difficult time of moving the ball against the defense of the Mustangs.  Wherever the pigskin was, they bellied up to the plate and got the job done.  The Mustangs have all the tools to be a good team this year and possibly bring the CWVAC tournament trophy back to Clay Middle.  They will open the season against Braxton at home on September at 4th at 6 pm.  Now, if you love the game of football, you won’t want to miss a game.   The opening game against Braxton will be one of the toughest in their schedule so it should be championship game material.
