The CCMS Mustangs travelled to Webster this past Thursday night on a perfect evening for football to go head to head with the Highlanders.
The great weather, coupled with the fact that the Mustangs haven’t lost a game yet, heightened the spirits of the Mustangs and strengthened their resolve to win. The Mustangs got down to the business of football – the defense was like a wall covered with Kevlar, and Webster just couldn’t penetrate the line or the secondary.
The Mustangs allowed only two TDs in the game but stopped both extra point attempts. Other than that, it was all Mustangs. All of the boys on offense had a great game as they moved the ball down field, kept possession of the ball and took time off the clock; it was certainly a well executed game. The defensive line for the Mustangs was tight, closing ranks and stopping up the holes all through the game. The Highlanders tried to take the ball to the outside but there was no room. The Mustangs spread across the field like the plague and shut down the Highlander offense.
With the cheerleaders in a frenzy and fans busting their lungs, Webster Middle became just another notch on the pistol grip of the Mustangs. The final score was Mustangs 36, Webster 12. The Mustangs will be on the road again this week traveling to Poca. It should be a test for the Mustangs as Poca generally brings a good team to the field. Come out and support the Mustangs on their bid to become CWVAC Champions once again.
