The Mustang football team had a tough, tough time Thursday night as they travelled to Summersville to take on the Bears. The Mustangs and the Bears were a pretty good matchup with the Bears having a slight size difference. The Mustangs, coming off a win against Sherman where they dominated the grid iron on offense and defense, hoped to bring that momentum to this game. The Mustangs would have their hands full to bring a win against the Bears, but with the way they have played it seemed it would be no problem.
However, it was not to be in this game as the Mustangs fell off the wagon and got rolled over by the wheels, so to speak. The Mustangs just couldn’t seem to get their defense working as in the Sherman game or their offense either. There were some highlights in the game for the Mustangs on defense and offense, but it just wasn’t enough to match the game of the Bears. Somewhere there was somebody pushing needles in a CCMS football voodoo doll. No matter what they tried, they just couldn’t get the Vegas odds in their favor and get the ball in the end zone.
When the game ended, the score stood at 0-42 with the Bears winning the game. Next week, South Harrison Middle comes to town for homecoming night. The Mustangs will once again have their hands full, but hopefully this loss will get rid of all the bugs. This will be the first home game for the Mustangs and Clay Middle’s first dance on the million-dollar field, so come out and support them. Optimistically, this week of practice will iron out the bugs in the Mustang offense, and they will be ready to crush South Harrison. Go Mustangs!
