On homecoming night, the CCMS Mustangs come in the game after a big win at Walton and were going to try and make it win number two for the home town crowd. The Mustangs’ ground game, combined with superb blocking from the front line, took their game to the next level. The Yellow Jackets of Spencer had a tough time with the Mustang defense. This night, however, wasn’t just about the defense; the offense had a pretty good game as well, but just couldn’t seem to get past some critical errors. The defense of the Mustangs scored first when they caused a fumble with their push into the backfield. The ball was recovered by the Yellow Jackets but in the Mustang end zone for the safety, and the Mustangs were on the board with two points. That was it for the Mustangs, but their defense held tough allowing only one TD in the first half. The second half was also a good game but the Yellow Jackets scored eight more to make the final score Mustangs 2, Yellow Jackets 14. The Mustangs will be back next year and will be as tough as they come. The fans will be looking forward to it.
This night wasn’t just about football, though – it was also time to announce the new football homecoming queen of CCMS. As the Mustang band set their tunes in the wind the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade princesses, along with their escorts, strolled onto the field. As we all know, there can only be one queen, and as the tension rose, the announcement was made. Tailynn Varney’s name was announced to the cheers of the fans , and she would be the new 2015 CCMS Football Homecoming Queen. Queen Tailynn graciously accepted the crown as principal Anita Stephenson placed it on her head. She will no doubt be a queen that represents the school well. Her escort, Gabe Young, held the responsibility of being the queen’s bodyguard to a high level. Congratulations to Queen Varney and her court. Her court was as follows: 6th grade princesses were Chesney Boggs escorted by Ben Morton and Hannah Litton escorted by Isaiah Hamrick. The 7th grade princesses were Abbie Moore escorted by Aron Taylor and Misty Pritt escorted by Owen Nottingham and Lexi Truman escorted by Nick Evans. The 8th grade princesses were Adrien Dorsey escorted by Colton Cutshall, Emily Holcomb escorted by Hunter Jones and Chelsie Workman escorted by Eric Ferrell.
