The CCMS Lady Mustangs had one of those weeks that they wish they could have back. Losing it is not something that this group of girls is used to. They took their show on the road to Spencer and just couldn’t seem to find the groove they are accustomed to. They lost to the Lady Jackets with the games going 0-2. They then returned home for 8th grade night on Thursday where fans were able to bid farewell to the volleyball girls that will move on to CCHS to help take the Lady Panther team to the next level. They took to the home court to play the Lady White Falcons of Wahama who had lost only one game so far. They are a team that you just don’t make mistakes against, but neither are the Lady Mustangs.
The game started much like anticipated – full on volleyball. If you have a cardiac condition, it was not the place to be as the Lady Mustangs and the Lady Falcons went head-to-head. It was an intense matchup, but the Lady Falcons squeezed by the Lady Mustangs and won the first game. The smiles and laughs on the Lady White Falcons were quickly wiped off in the second game, though, as the Lady Mustangs wiped the floor with their grins.
The third game started, and it was one of those games that will keep you up at night. When it was over, the Lady Mustangs were defeated but not without a fight. The Lady Mustangs are one of only two teams that have beaten the Lady White Falcons this season, and their next matchup could be a lot different. They play again at Wahama on October 21 in the last game of their regular season, so if you get the chance, get out and support the CCMS volleyball team. Go Lady Mustangs!

The Mustang football team has had a lot of bad breaks this season, only taking home gold in one game. In their matchup against Wahama on Wednesday evening, they just couldn’t seem to get the job done. There were some highlights and individual efforts that made the Wahama team feel like they had been in a fight, but in the end, it was Wahama over the Mustang football team 36-0. The Mustangs will play on Thursday night at Ravenswood to determine their placement in the CWVAC conference for the season. Go Mustangs!
