It was open season for the CCMS Mustangs as they butted heads with the Bears of Summersville on Thursday evening.

The Mustangs ground and pound style of football defeated the Summersville Bears with a score of 40-0.  Lightning threw in the mercy towel  for the Bears with about a minute left and the game was called by the refs. The Mustangs ground game, combined with superb blocking from the front line, took their game to the next level.  The Bears’ defense just couldn’t overcome the push of the Mustangs.

The Mustangs started racking up points early in the game, and then both teams’ defense sort of had a battle royal, holding each offense at a standstill, but it didn’t last for the Bears. The offensive line of the Mustangs started controlling the defensive line of the Bears like robots and opened up some big holes for running back Gene Sams. Sams moved the ball down the field and kept the defense of the Bears guessing. Mustang offense has a good arsenal

and can beat anybody. The Mustang defense was nothing but a wall, allowing very little yardage and gave new meaning to no pain no gain. There is still a

lot of football to play before the championship and nary a foe will not be taken lightly. A win here gave the boys some great momentum going into next week’s game against Richwood.

The Mustangs will clash with Richwood Thursday night on the road, and it will be a good match up.  Richwood has beefed up its program and has already notched one win on their helmet. If the Mustangs can hold onto this momentum, they will be tough to beat. Mustang defense proved once again that if you’re going to run against them, be prepared to lose. Go Mustangs!
