Jaedon Delwarte gets in a kill shot.

By Allen Hamrick

CCHS Lady Panthers volleyball hit the floor running this past week in a tri matchup with Charleston Catholic and the Lady Grizzlies of Nicholas County. On deck first was Charleston Catholic coming into the match hopeful but not overzealous.

The Lady Panthers did not get off the ground too well and seemed to be a little flat-footed against the fast-playing Irish girls. The Lady Panthers were bombed by at least four Lady Irish, including former Lady Panther Illyana Evans. The Lady Panthers could not return the favor and fell to the Lady Irish in two games 15-25, 11-25.

The girls would need to define the problems and straighten them out before scraping with the Lady Grizzlies who were themselves just thumped by the Lady Irish. However, the Lady Panthers could not put their heads into the game as the Lady Grizzlies took out their vengeance against them. The Lady Panthers went down again in two games by the score of 10-25 and 12-25.

This week they will be at the nets again on the road at Buffalo on Saturday. So, if you get the chance, get out and support the team. Go Lady Panthers!

Zoey Jones makes the close net point.
