Lady Panthers looking for wins

For whatever reason in the cosmos, Lady Panthers softball has had a tough year to say the least.

Whether it has been due to the weather, just plain bad breaks or errors, it’s hard to say.  They have been playing pretty consistent softball, keeping most of the games close, but have not been able to close the deal. This past week, they went head to head against the always tough Braxton Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles have always been able to raise their bats from the dead and hit the ball. Alexis Williams took the hill and was throwing some pepper, and the Lady Eagles were having a tough time scoring on her. The Lady Panthers pulled out the big sticks in the 3rd inning with three doubles and two singles and scored three runs before their bats were tomb stoned. Stoned in part to the Lady Eagle pitcher who had such a change up pitch that the batters looked like they were having seizures at the plate. She threw a ball that came in so slow that a batter may as well throw in the white towel because nobody would hit it.  The Lady Eagles tied it up by the 4th inning.

The 6th inning came and all was going well until a bad game of hot potato at home plate allowed three runs to cross for the Lady Eagles.  It was a tough pill to swallow for the Lady Panthers, and they couldn’t return the favor in the 7th inning. The Lady Panthers were defeated by the score of 3-6.

The second game of the double header was no cakewalk; the Lady Panthers just couldn’t get their composure after the first game and threw in the towel by the 3rd inning, being short gamed by the Lady Eagles 0-10.  The Lady Panthers will play a full house hand  this week with two games at home and three games away.  Get out and catch a game.
