The Lady Panthers stubbed their toes early on in the week before butting heads with the Lady Raiders. Early in the game, both teams were still trying to find their groove. In the first period though, the Lady Panthers managed to get ahead of the Lady Raiders despite low scoring. Then it was gloves off, and the Lady Raiders brought out the spikes and started driving them in.
The Lady Panthers were trying to figure out a defense to stop it, but at the half the Lady Raiders were up 31-24. The Lady Panthers came out and put on their game face, but the third period went about the same way. They had plenty of looks but not many points, and turnovers and getting beat on the rebounds didn’t help. They rallied in the fourth and got within five points of the Lady Raiders, but fouls kept the Lady Raiders on the foul line as 11 of their 17 points came from the foul line. Erica Boggs came in at top shot with 12 points. The final score was Lady Panthers 56, Lady Raiders 64. It was a close game, but one the Lady Panthers could win given the talent on the team. Mistakes will beat you every time.
Once they licked their wounds and mourned the loss, it was back to business. The Lady Highlanders came into town looking for their first win of the season. They would not find the treasure in Clay County as the Lady Panthers came back and set the nets on fire, scoring 84 points. It was like shooting a dear with a cannon; they didn’t stand a chance. The Lady Panthers will take their show on the road this week in a couple of rematches. The first will be against Nicholas County on Tuesday and Webster on Wednesday. They will be getting set for the end of the regular season and the beginning of of LKC’s. If you get the chance, support the Lady Panthers as their season comes to an end. Go Lady Panthers!
