Clay County football took the Sissonville Indians to the woodshed on homecoming night. The Panthers basically scored at will as the Collins air show began. He has some high speed juke and jivin’ wide receivers in Joel Elliot and high flying Jacoby Nichols who are quickly becoming a terror for the other teams. With Noah Collins throwing tight enough threads to make a quilt, it plays havoc on the other teams. The Panther defense were assassins cruising around the field, and there was no where the Indians could go but to the pout house.
The game was a rough one and tensions were running high as the Panthers scored time and time again, seemingly unstoppable. The Indians managed to get past the Panther defense a couple of times making a person think that the TD’s were just teases the Panthers let them have. By the half the score was near out of each for the Indians as the Panthers racked 54 points on the board to their 19.
Once the halftime was over, both teams added two more TD’s to their score and made the final score 68-33. Football wasn’t the only action on the field Friday night. It was time for football royalty to parade onto the field in their finest regalia. Yep, you guessed, it was queen’s night and time to crown the new 2024 Football Homecoming Queen of CCHS. The CCHS band and the CCHS cheerleaders got the ball rolling as they lined up for the parade of queens. Queen Gracie Johnson, along with her escort Kain Osburn and crown bearers River Osburn and McKinzli Samples, graced the football field and with enthusiasm accepted the crown as CCHS principal Allen Tanner placed it on her head. She will no doubt be a queen that represents the school well. Freshman Princess Olivia Lanham was escorted by Kaiden Hersman, Sophomore Princess Camryn Williams was escorted by Elijah Tanner, Junior Princess Jolie Bevins was escorted by Dalton Griffin, and Senior Princess Hollie Conley was escorted by Trent Hinkle.
Congratulations to Queen Johnson and the rest of her court, they all represented well.
The Panthers, now 3-1, on the season will be on the road to take on the undefeated South Harrison next Friday. Go Panthers!
