The Panthers have ended their season on the mats at the State Wrestling Tournament held in Huntington over the past weekend.

Once again this season, the Panthers couldn’t get the numbers in the ranks to have a full team.  That being said, they went head to head all season,  put great individual records in the books and four qualified for the state competition.  It was a tough event as some of the finest wrestlers were going down in flames early.  The Panthers had some of those tough matches but gave it a hundred percent.  Joel Cruickshanks was the only wrestler from the Panther team to place in the top six.  Joel placed 6h in the state in the 152 pound weight class, and placing 6th is a great accomplishment considering the level of competition he was up against.  Joel has been a powerhouse at 152 pounds and is a inspiration to those that will come after him.  He has been a credit to the Panther uniform,  whether in football or wrestling, and has made a permanent influence at CCHS.  Congratulations to Joel and all the other wrestlers who competed – Colton Casto, Blake Sontos and Rush Sparks. The next couple of years will likely see the Panther wrestling team back at the top of the food chain. Go Panthers.
