The Clay County Panthers were on the road to Midland Trail this week, looking for their second win of the season. Clay scored on their first two possessions, leading to a shut out of the number 20 ranked Class A Trail with a final score of 26-0. Senior Ricky Ahart rushed for 158 yards, scoring two of the Panther’s touchdowns. Quarterback Tyler Stewart ran five times for 41 yards with two touchdowns and was 4-8 for 71 yards passing.
The Panthers were glad to snap their three game losing streak. “We’ve played some very tough teams,” said Coach Steve Ware, “We’ve had some execution problems and penalty problems. This is a big boost for us. We see this as the start of a new season, and we’re 1-0.”
The Clay High Panthers travel to Sissonsville next week to play the #5 ranked Indians. Come support your team and cheer them onto another on the road win!
