The CCPIF A, B, C and flag teams were at home this week against Braxton. Any time a Clay team butts heads with Braxton in any sporting venue it is always a good matchup.
Saturday was one of the hottest days of the year, and on the field and in uniform was even hotter.   Around the grid stood a city of canopies; tail gates were dropped, and the food spread. It was the day when nerve met possibility and grit met fight or flight. The boys put their game faces on and took the field. Players from the flag teams took to the field first, and for all intents and purposes, it looked like the Clay flag team took it to the flag team of Braxton.
It was a defensive struggle when the C teams took the field. Both teams gutted out the heat and went helmet to helmet, and with 19 seconds left, the Braxton C team scored and won the game by the score of 6-12.
B team, on the other hand, couldn’t be stopped. There are no words to describe the intensity of the moment when the ball was snapped — they played like football is supposed to be played. They went all out and, with the idea that they had to prove themselves to their coach and to their fans, knocked down 31 points in the game to Braxton’s 6.
The A team took to the field having not previously beaten the A team of Braxton. This day would prove historic. Noah Casto took the ball to the house, scoring the only touchdown in yet another defensive game, thus winning the game 6-0. The coaches did an outstanding job with the players, and it showed in their intensity. All the teams did an outstanding job, and it will be well worth your effort to get to their games.
