The CCHS track team participated in the Region II tournament at Lewis County this past Wednesday.

Here is where they would try to qualify for the state finals to be held on Friday, May 18.  The team did not disappoint the fans. Region II is one of the toughest regions in the state and has some of the finest track athletes.  This tournament would pit the best in head to head events.  This would be the first time that the CCHS track team had qualified so many for the state championships.

Katie Payne was Region II runner up in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet.  She also qualified for the discus throw as well with a toss of 90 feet 10 inches.  The Ladies 4×800 team also qualified; the team consists of Madelyn Kilpatrick, Celina Humphrey, Jacey Collins and Sharina Ratliff.   Garrett Quinn qualified in the 300 meter hurdles, and the boys 4×110 meter hurdles also qualified.  The team is Hunter Jones, Jacob Miklos, Gabe Young and Garrett Quinn.  Congratulations to all the qualifiers. Your dedication to the sport has been proven.  I don’t believe in luck. I believe hard work and skill got you to this point, now go to the states and bring home some metal.
