The We Care Club of Clay County High School would like to make the public aware that we are continuing raising money for our Annual Christmas Drive on November 1, 2014. We would first like to thank all the organizers and participants for the funds raised this year at the Apple Festival Car Show. We need to thank Mike Evans, Karen and Junior Burdette, Gary and Mary O’Brien, Nick and Juanita Bird and T. G. Griffith for their participation and for all their hard work all year to make this event successful.
This is the last year for some of these people and the We Care Club advisors and students would like to thank them for their many years of service in helping the children of Clay County. We need to thank Jackie Tanner who won the $150.00 Gift Card from the Clay County Bank and donated the money back to our club. We would like to thank the many other people who gave special donations and I am sure that God will richly bless you for your kindness.
We will be having our Annual Bucket Brigade at the Intersection at Two Run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014. There will not be any students involved in this activity on the highway!
We would like to thank the Sheriff’s Department, 911 Control, Clay County School System, Clay Ambulance Service, Mayor and Clay Town Council, State Road Department, WV State Police and other agencies/parties that know that we are involved in this activity.
If you are driving through this area during this time period we would ask that you would please be considerate and drive slowly and be patient if someone has stopped in front of you to make a contribution. As you drive through this area and you do not have the money to donate, we hope that you will not feel bad, but will just blow your horn in support of our student’s efforts to provide food, clothing and toys to needy Clay County children and families this Christmas and throughout the year.
We would also like to announce that if we have extremely bad weather that this activity will be cancelled because we do not want to jeopardize anyone during this activity. For any comments or any suggestions you might have please call Jerry Stover, President and Community Coordinator for the Clay County High School We Care Club. .
