It’s party time this weekend at Clay County High School. It is time again for the Bob Stover Classic Wrestling Tournament. Named in honor of CCHS coaching great and National Wrestling Hall of Famer Bob Stover, this year’s classic will bring in some of the finest wrestlers in the state. Other than the CCHS wrestling team, Buckhannon, Poca, Fayetteville, Webster, Buffalo, Midland Trail, and Ritchie County will bring their best to the table. Braxton County and Richwood have yet to confirm their attendance.
The Panther wrestling team will not have a full team this year, but with some coming off the injured list they should be able to rock the house. It is always tough coming into the Panther Den to try to take it over, and this tournament should prove to be a good one. The Panthers have dominated this event for the last few years and being king of the hill will have the other teams doing a little head hunting. However, they better bring some band aids and tissues. It will be some of the best gut wrenching, heart thumping, most passionate action rarely seen in today’s world. Individuals will struggle against all odds, not for power, fame or money, but sacrificing muscle, bone, and blood for family and friends. So, if you want to see a testament to unwavering will, come to the Bob Stover Classic this Saturday at Clay County High School and get a raw taste of power and strength. Wrestling starts around 10:30 a.m. and admission is five bucks. Come out and watch forces in motion; you will be glad you did.
