The Lady Panther volleyball girls met for the final time as a team this season at the 2013 Lady Panther Awards Banquet on Sunday. Mothers and possibly dads and friends proved once again the abilities of their culinary skills as a feast was spread for the masses. Some of the players couldn’t make the party because of the obvious weather conditions, and they were missed.
CCHS principal Melinda Isaacs gave a post year pep talk to the Lady Panthers, and Eli Osborne offered a prayer for the food and safety on the roads. Then it was time to eat and enjoy a slide show of the highlights of one of the best seasons ever. After food filled the bellies, it was time to hand out the much deserved awards. Gracen Samples was the top recipient taking home the AA 2nd team All State, 1st team LKC, Most Kills award, and the Most Aces award. Carlee Craddock who couldn’t make it also had a list of awards as well: AA All State Special Honorable Mention, 2nd team LKC, and the Most Digs award. Isabelle Haverty followed with Special Honorable Mention LKC, and Blocker of the year. Emily Wynn took home the Special Honorable Mention LKC award as well, along with the Sophomore of the Year award. The Most Improved award went to Sarah Boggs. Ball Handler of the Year award went to Stefani Duffield. Junior of the Year and All Around Player of the Year awards went to Peyton Lucas. Panther of the Year award went to Sarah Schoolcraft, and Freshman of the Year award went to Lexi Woodyard. All the Lady Panthers received an Elite 8 plaque for making it to the state championships. It was a great season for Coach Todd Samples and the Lady Panther team! We expect it to be just as great or even better next season.
