On the morning of Thursday, July 21, a Roane County DOH crew was working to stabilize an embankment along Clio Road that was damaged by recent flooding.
Two crew members were working to clear debris from a drain pipe when a rock came loose from the hillside. One of the workers was struck by the rock and sustained serious injuries. He was flown by helicopter to a hospital where he remains in critical condition.
At this time, the WV Division of Highways is not releasing the name of the employee. He has served with the WVDOH for more than 18 years.
