The Clay County Board of Education met on Monday, April 10, at the administrative office for a regular meeting.

After the agenda was approved, the minutes from the previous meeting were approved as well, followed by the payment of the current bills. A financial update was given by Jennifer Paxton, business manager/treasurer.

A motion to approve the employment of Geoff Hamrick as cross country coach at Clay County Middle School was approved. A motion to approve the employment of Ronald Starcher as assistant track coach at Clay County High School was approved. A motion to approve the employment of Norman Ramsey as extracurricular trip coordinator was approved. A motion to approve the out-of-state trip for the Clay County Gifted Students to attend the Engineering Day at Kings Island in Cincinnati, OH, on Friday, May 12, was approved.

Following the action items, a few CCHS HOSA members spoke to ask the board of education to assist them in attending the National HOSA Competition in Orlando, FL. There were 21 students registered for state competition, 14 of those placed in the top 5, and five of those students brought home a first place spot in the state competition! Congratulations to those students! The board of education will bring this request back as an action item to approve to help these students.
