The Clay County Board of Education met on Monday, March 27, for its regularly scheduled, bi-monthly meeting.
The meeting minutes from the previous meeting were approved. A motion to accept bids for an auditing firm for the 2017-2018 fiscal year was approved. The resignation of Anita Truman as teacher at Clay Elementary School, effective March 8, was approved. A motion to approve a resolution of the Board of Education of the County of Clay in support of the ongoing mission of Regional Education Service Agency Three was approved. The resignation of Delno Coen as extracurricular trip coordinator for Clay County Schools, effective immediately, was approved. The employment of Brenda Griffin as activity school bus operator was approved.
The Clay County Middle School Cross County program for the 2017-2018 school year was approved. The Clay County High School FBLA request for $400 to attend state competition was approved. A motion to approve the H.E. White Elementary School end-of-the-year, fifth grade trip to tour the Battleship Wisconsin and Virginia Beach in Norfolk, VA, (May 19-21) was approved.
A motion to approve the following employees for transfer/termination for the 2017-2018 school year, was approved: Beverly Clevenger, termination; Joanna James, termination. This is an annual precautionary action that assumes the loss of federal funding levels for the 2017-2018 school year, action will be recommended to rescind transfers/terminations as needed.
The next board of education meeting will be held April 10 at the board of education office.
