I hear a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ make a statement the other day that is saturated with truth. He said “when God wants to change you the first thing He does is touch your mouth. He was talking about being a Christian. If he were talking about a sinner, the first thing God would touch would be the heart.
God’s word tells us that out of our heart our mouth speaks. Lu 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. When you speak you are identifying what you believe. Heb. 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised) All too often Christians compromise their faith by speaking feelings, emotions or circumstances. God will honor His Word if we will faithfully speak what He has said, in spite of circumstances.
The Word declares to us and for our benefit that we must live by faith. Heb 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. Once we have declared the Word of God over our circumstances we are instructed by God’s Word to stick to it. When we hear someone say “it doesn’t work for me” they have drawn back from what God said about the situation. Faith is a powerful weapon. Since faith comes directly from the Word of God which says “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Ro 10:17) we know that faith is based on knowledge. If we don’t know what God’s Word says, then, we can’t release faith. Faith is identifying with truth. God’s Word is truth. Joh 17:17 says “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” God said (Mark 13:31) Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 5:18 says “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”
Abraham had to wait for years but God fulfilled His Word. The same with Sarah. However, while they were waiting, they believed God. Elisha died before that which was spoken to him came to pass, but it came to pass just the same. It takes more than head knowledge. The Word of God must be alive in your heart (spirit). When God has quickened His Word to you, He is telling you what He is going to do if you believe. Just wait, watch and believe for it’s on its way. Praise God!
Maranatha!
