Mt. 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. What a statement. These are words spoken by Jesus Christ to help us have a blessed day. There is power in your words. You may think it isn’t so, but read that verse of scripture again. You may say it’s just a phrase or I didn’t really mean it but does it end there? Somewhere down your road you will come face to face with either justified or condemned. Those words will either bless you or curse you. You make the choice.
We hear people frequently saying things like “I’m catching the flu”. Why are you chasing it? When you make such a confession, it opens the door for the devil to pour it on. God expects His children to resist the devil. All evil, sickness and disease comes from the devil. God heals. (Ex. 15:26). God has no desire that you be sick. He loves you. Sure, those things come our way but we don’t have to welcome them. By the Word of God we are to resist them. Read 1 Peter 2:24.
Think about what Jesus said. Your words either open or close the door. Your words are the key. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Rom. 10:17). When you speak the Word, faith responds. It may be far away but keep speaking the Word. Faith is coming, getting closer each day. On the other hand if you are speaking words that condemn, your mind is being conditioned to accept what you said. You may frequently say; “it always happens to me.” Guess what, you have opened the door and it will continue to happen to you. You have invited it in. A lot of people have told me “Pastor you’re too tough, you know what I meant.” Ok, so I knew what they meant. That doesn’t change Matthew 12:37. Whether you meant it or not; speaking doubt breeds doubt. Speaking unbelief breeds unbelief. Speaking truth anchors truth. There is a spiritual side to all of this and because we speak in a carnal way does not negate the weight of what we said. When you release words of faith and stand thereon, it is up to God to honor His Word in your behalf. When you speak contrary to God’s Word, you are removing God’s will (His Word is His will) from your life. Don’t take my word for it; search the Scriptures for yourself. That’s what the Bible says to do (John 5:39).
