Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Psalm 60:4.
Throughout history military leaders have used banners to lead troops into battle. Valiant men fought around the banner and defended it with their lives. If the man carrying the flag was injured or killed, someone else took up the flag before it hit the ground. A banner showed unity, courage, strength, and a will to win. As long as the flag was flying, the fight was on. A fallen flag meant surrender. A banner of truth.
You have given a banner to those who fear you that it may be displayed because of the truth. David was raising a banner in the time of war. This bold move against the enemy was accompanied by a plea for deliverance for Israel. Raising the banner of truth. We face a different kind of battle today-but one in which we still need to lift up the banner of truth and ask God for victory. America in a spiritual war.
The thief cometh not but for the steal and to kill and to destroy. Our enemy is Satan and his battalions of liars, the seular humanists who say there is no absolute right or wrong. They try to make the truth a lie and the lie a truth. Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil who put darkness for light and light for darkness who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter? Raising the banner of truth. Jesus said, “And I if I am lifted up from the earth will draw all people to myself.” He was lifted up on the blood – soaked battlefield of Calvary as the undisputed champion. People are asking what is truth? Pilate asked that question standing before Jesus the living truth. Jesus said, I am the way the truth and the life. Without Christ we are lost in our sings without hope without truth. Christ is the answer. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things works together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” It does not say, some things or this- that thing but all things? God is with us. We helps us and comforts us. Trust Him, he will bring you safely through!
