The last marriage problem I would like to explore is a movement which is designed to do away with marriage all together. The phrase to describe this human arrangement is actually an oxymoron. An oxymoron is defined in Merriam-Webster as: “a combination of contradictory or incongruous words (as cruel kindness); broadly: something (as a concept) that is made up of contradictory or incongruous elements.” Incongruous means: “not harmonious.” Some examples of an oxymoron are, icy hot, good grief, pretty bad, small crowd, black light. I think you get the idea. The phrase used to describe this human arrangement is “gay marriage” or “same sex marriage.” Here, you have a “perfect contradiction” which is also an oxymoron. What could be more contrary to both human nature and holy design than two men or two women living together and carrying on perverted sexual behavior than so-called gay marriage? It is utter madness and totally without logic or reason.
This one thing is sure: you cannot be a believer of the Bible and at the same time believe that sodomy is ok. That, my friend, is an oxymoron. Anyone who says or believes that the holy, righteous, sovereign God of the Bible did not consider sodomy as a gross sin against Himself and against His own human creation is totally uninformed and ignorant of the true nature of God.
Marriage was first introduced to mankind at the creation of man. God first created a man, then from that man, God also created the woman. As soon as He had performed this wonderful creation, He joined them together by marriage. Genesis 2:22-25, And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Over the past few weeks I have written of marriage problems and how to avoid them or how to solve them. I have cited and explained several Scripture passages having to do with marriage. There are hundreds of passages in reference to marriage in the Bible. Not one of them suggest or imply same sex marriage, but to the contrary. There is not one single passage, verse or word which speaks in favor of sodomy anywhere in the whole Bible. Sodomy is always spoken of in the negative. Exodus 22:19 Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death. Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination. Leviticus 18:23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it [is] confusion. Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them. Leviticus 20:16 And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them. Deuteronomy 23:17 There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.
The American society in general is rapidly departing from the righteous standards it once held and was founded upon. We have become an antinomian, a-moral society which means the rejection of God’s laws and standards and having no moral base or core. That may seem like a rather harsh charge, but I’m afraid it is true.
