The best news that the world ever had came from a graveyard near Jerusalem?
Why we can believe in the resurrection. The tomb was empty. Witnesses saw the risen Christ. The disciples were willing to die for the truth of the resurrection. Believers lives were transformed. This gospel news comes from the least likely place — a graveyard? The graveyard is a symbol of our final defeat. Easter is the good news from a graveyard of Christ’s Victory over death hell and the grave. Easter is not an argument. It is announcement. It is not a syllogism. It is a shout.
Luke asks, why do you look for the living among the dead? Christ is not here, but has risen. Good news from the graveyard. Do you believe this good news? Are you sharing this good news from a graveyard? Yes, Christ lives! He is alive because he lives. We too shall live again. There is life beyond the graveyard. Christians, we are crucified with Christ, dead with Christ, buried with Christ, raised with Christ. Are you sharing the good news from the graveyard?
When Peter preached on the day of Pentecost and 3,000 souls were saved. Peter preached about the resurrection. Acts, Chapter 2, at the house of Cornelius, Peter preached about the resurrection. Acts 17-18, and again when he stood before King Agrippa, he asked, why should it be taught a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?
