Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Someone said that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
Eventually what is in the heart will come out. Eventually words will reveal what is in the heart. It may be hidden for a season but what is treasured in our hearts will guide us along a path to fulfill what is in the heart. Some will fake it, some will try to hide it and some will candy coat it but what is in the heart will eventually surface.
If there is good treasure in the heart it will produce results. We will practice forgiveness, try to lend a helping hand, speak a word of encouragement, live by a standard that reveals our heart. If there is good treasure in the heart we want to see others do well and prosper. We are not moved by jealousy or coveting what someone else has. We will have no desire to offend or cause pain to anyone. The person that has good treasure in his heart is one who is living in peace with his fellow man and is a good neighbor.
There are those who treasure things in their heart that produce evil. They are never satisfied and generally are not considerate of others but are motivated by selfish ambitions. They are apt to look at others through eyes that are filled with suspicions, doubts and covetness.
Our hearts produce a crop for it is always sowing seeds. Many need to pray for a crop failure. Words spoken were laced with half-truths or contain no truth at all. If you are sowing good seeds they will produce a good crop. If you are sowing bad or evil seeds, they will produce an evil or bad crop. Once we release them across our lips they cannot be recalled. God will bless good seed but He will curse bad seed. Often the mouth is engaged before it has filtered through our mind. We may say we didn’t mean it but perhaps we just didn’t want that person to know what was in our heart. Jesus said in Matt 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. The Apostle James gave us a good bit of advice when he wrote Jas 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Maranatha!
