Rom. 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. This verse has much to say about the world we live in today. Many are they that profess to know God, yet evidence supporting that claim is hard to come by. They have majored on their imaginations and separated themselves from what God says to and about us. Instead of a thankful heart they draw attention to themselves declaring “look what I have done.”
Many are the hearts that have become darkened and the light has gone out and they are not able to see the truth. They justify their decision to do as they please. Skipping church, withholding tithes from God, conforming to the world’s standards in appearance, speech or actions is not pleasing to God. Ro 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
If you are going to prove something you must show forth some evidence. What are we to prove? The good and acceptable and perfect will of God. If you are a child of God the Word of God declares: 1Cor. 6:19 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? Not our own? 1Cor. 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Some of the evidence we are to produce is: love, faith, patience, forgiveness, speech, joy, peace, humility, faithfulness and health. These things speak of our relationship with God and His blessings upon His children. As you add these qualities to your life and show forth the evidence, your light in this dark and vain world becomes brighter and brighter. As you concentrate on these things there will be no time nor desire to backbite, gossip or put down other Christians or churches. You may think you cannot do these things but by the grace of God, through faith and in love you can because it will please God and He will help you. Read the 1st chapter of Ephesians (particular verses 6, 12 and 14. God bless.
