Particularly over the past several days it has been extremely rough for you. Perhaps you found yourself without electrical power. Maybe you found that your phone wasn’t working and you felt isolated. Thank God you are able to read this and in all probability your electrical service has been restored and the phone is working again. If not, soon it will be.
If those were your problems think about those that have no home to return to or all their possessions are wiped away. Some even lost a loved one. Many found that their road was impassable and were stranded.
I want to applaud those that went the extra mile and donated time, food, vehicles and a love for their fellow man. God didn’t cause the terrible flood that has impacted all of us but His people opened their hearts and their arms and did something for someone else. People even came from other states to do what they could. Even if you were not affected by the love and generosity of others, I hope you appreciate what they did.
I thank the Salvation Army, the Red Cross, the National Guard and everyone else who has helped us get through this crisis. It lets us know that we do need one another and also tells us that the American people are still loving, generous and are good people.
Sad memories of what we have seen, heard or went through will linger in our minds and hearts for many years. But don’t forget about those that went out of their way to lend a helping hand. Some poured out their heart in prayer and others went from house to house seeing how they could help. As we reflect back on what we have just went through it is a good reminder of what has made America and her people what they are. Trusting God and being there for one another is what it is all about. Please remember those who are still in dire need and if you can, lend them a hand.
Maranatha!
