Tit 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. What does it mean that He redeemed us? The word redeem means to purchase or to buy back. It is the price Jesus made to set us free from sin and eternal damnation. How did He do it? He permitted Himself to be crucified on the cross at Calvary. He was the sacrifice God authorized and accepted to restore mankind to a relationship with God Himself. The price was high and the cost extreme. Jesus gave His own life and His own blood to satisfy the debt of our sins.
As bad as God wanted a family, still, He did not force Himself on us. He offered us salvation through Jesus Christ. Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. What love God the Father and God the Son, Jesus Christ paid for you and me. The price is paid; the debt is settled. One thing remains. You and I individually must make the choice. Will we accept what Jesus did or will we go the way of the world and end up in the raging fires of hell to suffer eternally. It is not your sins that condemn you to hell but the rejection of accepting Jesus Christ.
To accept Jesus means to repent. The word repent means basically to turn and go the other way. It means to change. It means to reject sin and its lifestyle and accept the righteousness that only comes from God. To repent is calling upon God and asking Him to forgive us of the sinfulness of our life and ask Jesus to come into our heart and change us from the inside out. We cannot of ourselves make ourselves righteous before God. We desperately need His help. Being a good person or a member of some church is not enough. That doesn’t save anyone from hell. God already forgave you of your sins but to become His child you must accept Jesus and what He did for you at Calvary. You must believe He died on Calvary’s cross and the third day arose from the dead overcoming death hell and the grave. Now He sits at the right hand of the Father in Heaven and soon, perhaps very soon, He is coming back for those that have Him in their heart. If you have Him in your heart your life will show it and the world will know it. No one, absolutely no one can save you except Jesus. 2Co 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. Choose life through Jesus Christ and you will spend eternity in HEAVEN not Hell.
